Once More Into The Breach

Yeesh. It's been a looooong time since I've done a blog. Time to dust off the keys and engage my brain! I've really been re-inspired to blog since watching Glenn Beck last week with his announcements of his future projects. I was really hit when he revealed his Disneyland prospectus purchase. I was reminded of a post I made a very long time ago, comparing Mr. Beck to Mr. Walt Disney. My mother and father had shared the post via Twitter with Mr. Joe Kerry. Now, I can't help but feel a little bit of a happy wiggle inside at thought that, just maybe, I was spot on.

Happy Father's Day

"There's something like a fine line of gold thread running through a man's word when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself."

The First Signs..?

After having a "brainblast" of ideas while watching Mr. Glenn Beck's show today, my dad got onto godaddy.com to look around at domain names. It got me thinking about my previous post on a Glenn Beck mega-media empire. I did some poking around and found a sparkling gem- http://gbtv.com
Maybe it was just me, but I was pretty sure that the logo was very Beck-like.
After excidedly giving my email and zip code to sign up, I went to the GBTV Facebook page- http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/GBTV?sk=wall&filter=1
It led me to an even brighter gem! Sadly for me, this site had already made my discovery, and delved even deeper.
http://anyonebutdem.com/2011/04/glenn-beck-to-start-his-own-channel/
AnyoneButDem wrote an article that lays out the ground work for GBTV. Among the facts are the registrant, the date the domain was bought, and the date the domain expires- in January of 2021. As stated by the article, that means serious business.
I am quite pleased to find this wonderful news, and hope that all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place quickly.
Godspeed, Mr. Beck.

A Series of Speculations....

Over the past two days, my family has been listening to what the rumor mill has been spitting out about Mr. Glenn Beck's departure from his show on FoxNews. Today my dad signed up for Mr. Beck's Insider Extreme. We sat down and watched the anniverary special for the site, and it really got my gears a-grinding.

Why is Mr. Beck leaving his television show? What will he be doing?

At the beginning of the program, Mr. Beck spoke about his projects, both current and future. He was told, "No one has done this before!" to which he replied, "One man has."

A new question arises!! Who is the one man of whom Mr. Beck speaks?

My mother places her bet for William Randolf Hearst or Howard Hughes. My dad counters with a surprising candidate: Walt Disney.

Now there's a twist in the tale. So I did a little research on Disney.

According to an article by Richard Siklos for CNN, the Walt Disney Company is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world, in terms of revenue. Once you do some serious digging, the number of pies Disney has fingers in is immense. Wikipedia has a nice list - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assets_owned_by_Disney

So what kind of similarities are there between Uncle Walt and the Czar of Truth? Well, Mr. Beck is well on his way to establishing several media outlets- his news website (theblaze.com), his own website (glennbeck.com), many books, several documentories, his cable tv show (Glenn Beck), and his radio show (The Glenn Beck Program).

Of course, it's all just speculation. It will be up to Mr. Beck to tell us what his plans for the future are.

The American Education

Every day that I go to school, I find myself more and more exposed to the Communist indoctrination of the 1960's. Recently, my Advanced Placement Literature and Composition class read a book call Things Fall Apart. It is a story of a man in a Nigerian tribe named Okonkwo; in the end, the White Man comes to his land, ruins his life, and causes him to hang himself. The discussion afterwards was based around the general thought that we should feel compassion for this man and his tribe.
Frankly, it makes me sick. Why do we not read about our own culture? Books like My Brother Sam Is Dead, The Great Gatsby, The Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice And Men, To Kill A Mockingbird, Gone With The Wind, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, All The King's Men, In Cold Blood, The Maltese Falcon- these books show important points in American culture and history. We cannot replace our individualism with globalism.
